KUNČER announces his first race weekend in the The European Renault Clio CUP Championship

Montenegro’s leading racing driver, Filip Kunčer, announced the start of his new racing season at a press conference held today at KIC “Budo Tomović.” This year, he will compete in the Renault Clio Cup series, one of the most prestigious European championships in this category.

In the presence of numerous media representatives, sponsors, and friends, Kunčer presented the upcoming season and announced his participation in the first race weekend, which will take place from April 19 to 21 at the Paul Armagnac Circuit in Nogaro, France.

As Kunčer emphasized, this will be followed by a long and demanding competitive season with a total of 18 races, to be held at well-known European circuits in France, Belgium, Italy, and Spain. He spoke in detail about the race calendar during the press conference.

Filip Kunčer, a young driver from Montenegro, is entering a new competitive season this year, which begins this coming weekend and represents the biggest challenge of his career so far.

He will compete in the prestigious Renault Clio Cup — a European championship under the umbrella of the world motorsport federation. The competition will be extremely strong, as Kunčer will face top drivers from across Europe in this category, confirming that this will be one of the most demanding championships of his career to date.

Following last year’s international debut, where he made a strong impression and demonstrated readiness for a higher level of competition, this opportunity marks a new step forward. This season, even tougher competition awaits him.

At today’s press conference, Filip stated that the season ahead will be full of challenges, but also opportunities for further development:

“The Renault Clio Cup is a championship that has existed for decades and brings together only the best drivers. Already at the first race, more than 40 competitors are registered, and there are very few series that can gather such a large number of drivers on a single circuit. I have prepared well for the start, both physically and mentally, and I have also begun working with my new team from France, which has been at the top of the Renault Clio Cup championship for many years. I can say that I will have strong support from them this year. I am aware that this is the highest level of touring car racing, and I am entering with humility, without unrealistic expectations. We know that I have the speed and the quality, but I am also aware of the experienced drivers I will be competing against. They have years of experience on these tracks, so I did not want to put unnecessary pressure on myself. However, my ambitions in this sport are very high, and we will strive toward them. It is an honor to represent my country in this championship, and I hope that years of training and love for motorsport will ultimately bring results,” said Filip Kunčer, thanking everyone for their great support."

In addition to Kunčer, representatives of the sponsors also addressed the media.

On behalf of the Volcano Vezuv Group, Corporate Communications Director Lena Bošković stated:

“It is a great pleasure to be here today at the beginning of a new and exciting season and to once again emphasize our strong support for Filip Kunčer — a young driver of exceptional talent, dedication, and fighting spirit. Vezuv Volcano is once again proud to be Filip Kunčer’s main sponsor for the second consecutive season. Last year, we went through his first full competitive season together, in a smaller but important cup. That period was crucial in showing how serious Filip is about his professional development. For our brand, this cooperation is not just support for one athlete — it is an investment in the future and in the values that Vezuv Volcano has nurtured for many years. We believe that such partnerships can inspire others, both in sports and in business. We are proud to stand by Filip again this season — not only as sponsors, but as partners on his journey. On behalf of Vezuv Volcano, I wish him a successful start to the season, safe racing, and many podium finishes!”

The CEO of the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator, Ivan Asanović, said:

“Dear members of the media, on behalf of the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator, it is my honor to welcome you to today’s press conference of our — and your — Filip Kunčer. We recognized his talent, strength, and above all, the passion he brings to every race. As a proud long-term sponsor, we are supporting Filip again this season with €10,000, because we believe in his driving, his passion, and his path to the top. Good luck on the track, Filip!”

On behalf of the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), CEO Vladimir Ivanović stated:

“We are pleased to continue our cooperation with Filip Kunčer, a young and talented driver who comes from a family with a rich tradition in motorsport. Filip’s talent and dedication have already been recognized at both national and international races. This agreement represents a continuation of our successful cooperation. We are confident that he will once again delight us with outstanding results. As a socially responsible company, CEDIS recognizes the importance of investing in young athletes, who are the best ambassadors of our country. This support is aimed not only at promoting sport, but also at motivating young people to achieve top results through hard work and dedication. We wish Filip great success in the upcoming European championship.”

On behalf of the Auto and Karting Association of Montenegro, Secretary General Đorđe Ražnatović said:

“It is my pleasure to greet you on behalf of the Auto and Karting Association of Montenegro and to publicly express our support for an exceptional athlete — Filip Kunčer. Through his results, professional approach, and dedication to motorsport, Filip has proven to be a true ambassador of this sport, both domestically and internationally. His passion, effort, and desire to improve inspire young drivers and represent the best values our Association seeks to promote. The Auto and Karting Association of Montenegro recognizes the importance of continuous investment in our athletes, and in that spirit, we emphasize that Filip has the full support of the Association — institutional, organizational, and financial — in achieving his sporting goals. We believe his example will contribute to the popularization of motorsport in Montenegro and motivate a new generation of competitors. Filip, we wish you much success, safe racing, and strong results. The Association stands with you.”

On behalf of EnergoFinanzza, Natalija Radonjić addressed those present:

“I represent a company focused on renewable energy sources. Through our work, we have shown that we know how to recognize potential, which we have recognized once again. Therefore, it is our honor and pleasure to support Filip and to wish him, on behalf of our company, the best of luck.”

On behalf of Sistem-mne, Goran Mičeta stated that the company has been active since 2003, primarily in the field of renewable energy, and that it was easy to recognize Filip’s energy and passion for the sport:

“We are pleased to be sponsors and will strive to continue this cooperation in the coming seasons.”

He also wished Filip success and encouraged him to proudly represent himself, his family, and Montenegro in upcoming competitions.

At the end, Kunčer thanked all of his sponsors, and especially the media, whose support significantly contributes to a successful start of the season, the promotion of motorsport in Montenegro, and the importance of sport as a message to young people to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.
