First stop: Madrid

First stop: Madrid

Another winter is behind us. For me, the new season begins earlier than ever. After a very strong debut season in the Renault Clio Cup Europe, expectations — and ambitions — have naturally grown. Of course, I want to be the best, and in my mind, I think only about how to reach the top. Still, this winter I tried to think less about the final goal and more about the steps that will take me there.

How did this winter go?

As every year, the focus is, of course, on finding sponsors. My goal this year is to secure slightly better preparations and a more comfortable season. When I say a more comfortable season, I mean the constant stress that brings questions to mind such as: “Will I find the budget for the season?”, “Will there be high costs due to frequent collisions and car damage?”, “What if I don’t succeed?”, “Will I be able to afford additional testing?”, “What if one of the existing or potential sponsors suddenly changes their mind?”, “What if I completely wreck the car?” … these are just some of the questions that constantly circle in my head and often prevent me from focusing on what matters most, my performance on the track. Motorsport is a harsh sport in which money often decides before talent and skill, but I’ll talk more about that another time.

During my debut season, I realized that this winter I needed to work most on my self-confidence. I learned that if you want to be the best, you must first believe that you are, especially when serious results already stand behind you. I decided to finally stop asking myself, “Can I really do this?” because, as I said, I have already proven that I can.

My focus is now on the small details that lead to top results. This winter I also spent a lot of time on the simulator, more than ever before, and I must admit I felt improvement, learned something new, and maintained focus throughout the entire break.

First race weekend

For the first time in my career, I will take to the track as early as February. The first stop is Madrid, the famous Jarama circuit and the Clio Cup Spain championship. For me, it’s the perfect opportunity to gradually get into rhythm and begin preparations for the European Championship, which starts in early April. The current Renault Clio Cup Europe champion, David Pouget, will also be on track, which gives me extra motivation to bring out my maximum. However, as I emphasized earlier, the focus remains on small things that deliver big results.

The excitement is greater than ever, and I can’t wait to hit the track on Friday.
